Series -

A group of separate bibliographic entities related to one another by the fact that each item bears a collective title applying to the

go on indefinitely, but whose individual volumes have their own titles.

Set (monographic) -

A set is a sequence of books that is expected to end; by contrast, a series (monographic series) is a sequence that can theoretically go on indefinitely, but whose individual volumes have their own titles. Sets may also have analyzed parts.

Its membership currently numbers approximately 200 institutions and library consortia in North

SPARC is also affiliated with major library organizations in Canada, the U.K. and Ireland, Denmark, Australia and the USA. by the Strategic Planning Team and was presented in draft form in October 1997 and discussion is still in process. The plan is the result of extensive communication and involvement with the University community and library staff and included reports from several library task forces. It has been followed by CRITICAL CHOICES: PERKINS LIBRARY SYSTEM PLAN, 2000 – 2005, final draft August 28, 2000.

Subject Librarian -
