What We Do

Digitization serves a number of purposes in a contemporary research library.

  • Providing researchers with digital surrogates helps reduce wear and tear on originals.

  • Popular materials made available online can be used simultaneously by many patrons.

  • Uniting dispersed materials in the digital world can reveal valuable new insights.

The Digital Production Center creates new digital content along two paths.

Digital collection building   We collaborate with other library departments to plan and build online collections of selected library holdings, expanding access for students, faculty, and researchers. Check out our latest collections.

Digital reformatting   We undertake digital reformatting to preserve the visual or textual content of deterioriating originals and to support grant-funded research. Read about our projects.
