Request Materials from Library Service Center

Book Requests

The requested materials will be retrieved from the various off-site locations and sent to the library you indicate. You will be notified when the requested materials arrive at that library.

Duke Community

  1. Find the book in the catalog
  2. On the search results screen, click on "Library Service Center" in the "Location / Call No." column to reach the Holdings screen

  3. On the Holdings Screen, click on "Request" in the first column

  4. If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to login with your NetID or 10-digit DukeCard number.

Guests

If you do not have a NetID or Duke Library card, please use Guest Request Form for LSC Materials. You may not check out materials, but you may use them at the LSC or in one of the campus libraries.

Article Requests

When possible, articles will be delivered electronically (emailed to you as a pdf file). Otherwise, photocopies will be sent to the library you indicate, and you will be notified when the requested materials arrive.

Special Collections Library Requests

Some materials held by the Rare Book, Manuscript and Special Collections Library are located in the Library Service Center. They will be listed in the online catalog with holdings indicating off-site location ("Special Collections Library | Library Service Center, Rare Books" or "Special Collections Library: Library Service Center, Manuscripts").

These materials must be requested through the Special Collections Library service desk. (660-5822 or special-collections@duke.edu) They will be retrieved from the Library Service Center and delivered to the Special Collections Library for use at that location.

University Archives Requests

Also, some materials held by the University Archives are located in the Library Service Center. They will be listed in the online catalog with holdings indicating off-site location ("University Archives: Library Service Center").

These materials must be requested through the University Archives service desk. (684-5637 or uarchives@notes.duke.edu) They will be retrieved from the Library Service Center and delivered to University Archives for use at that location.
