As the subject specialist for African Studies and African American Studies, I am the library liaison to the Department of African and African American Studies and the Duke University Center for African and African American Research.  I select all types of materials for the library (print, electronic, and visual) and I am currently developing collection polices for Africa – China Relations, Slave Monuments in the Caribbean, and African Foodways.

Background:

M.I.L.S. in Library Studies from the University of Michigan (1993), M.A. in U.S. History from Wright State University (1989), and B.A. in English/Creative Writing from California State University Long Beach (1983). An avid traveler, I’ve lived overseas while serving in the United States Air Force (1975-80) and as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kenya, East Africa (1986-1988).
