Biological and Environmental Sciences (BES) Library

On Friday, 7 August 2009, the Biological and Environmental Sciences (BES) Library closed permanently.  On August 10, the Science Drive Library Quick Stop opened in room 103-B Biological Sciences Bldg. Faculty, graduate students, and staff have 24/7 card reader access to the library quick stop where they can pick-up library materials and interlibrary loans that have already been checked out to them. Patrons can also return library materials to the library quick stop.

Obtaining books and journals previously housed at BES

  • Books are now housed at Perkins/Bostock and can be requested for pick-up at the Science Drive Library Quick Stop in 103-B Biological Sciences (Please note: the pick-up location is listed as BES in the catalog and interlibrary loan request forms).
  • Print bound journals are now housed at the Library Service Center and can be requested for pick-up at the quick stop.  Note that most journals are available electronically.
  • Unbound journals are now housed in the Current Periodicals shelves on the first floor of Bostock.
Reserves Collection
With BES closed, reserves are now housed at the Perkins circulation desk. Contact Russ Besancon (perkins-reserves@duke.edu) to get materials placed on reserve for your class.

If you have any questions about the BES closing or the new library quick stop, please contact Teddy Gray (teddy.gray@duke.edu, 660-5970).
