I am interested in applying for this school for college. I want to be a Psychiatrist and I am currently a freshman at Woodmont Highschool and I am considering your college as a choice of mine.

I think your questions can be answered from Duke’s Admissions & Aid web pages, the Admissions Office pages , the “Who We’re Looking For” page, and all the other pages linked to from these. Specifically, there are no minimum test scores or class ranks (but these may be factored in with other facets). You can read the standardized test policy. Please look over these pages and contact the admissions office for more information.

The Duke web page that links to academic programs lists merely (1) Trinity College and (2) the Pratt School of Engineering as undergraduate schools. They seem to be very fuzzy about the categorization of the Nicholas School. It’s not one of the two schools that is listed after the word “Undergraduate,” but is listed under “Schools and Departments” and certainly has a lot of UG courses and majors (as well as the Masters and Doctorate programs). If you go under Trinity College and go to the list of majors, they list some programs that are part of the Nicholas School, such as Earth & Ocean Sciences and Environmental Science and Policy. Trinity and Pratt, of course, also have graduate programs. You be the judge, but I’ll say there are 2.5 undergraduate schools.

It’s certainly there now (although there was an out-of-order sign on it in late January).  What may have confused you is that it was moved from near the top of the stairs that go to the lower level, on the way to the auditoriums, to over near the post office and soda vending machines, on the side of the staircase that goes to the higher level.

Duke serves as a tree prison, and prisoners are given numbers.  Also, it’s part of an inventory to help monitor the health of and schedule maintenance on the trees.  The round metal tags identify a sample (certainly not all) trees in different stages in their life cycle, of different species, etc., and if problems are noted then the grounds people can tackle the problem on other trees with similar characteristics.

When I myself went to college, I simply majored in “everything.”   I doubt if Prof. [x] hates you.  Why don’t you try impressing him with a spectacularly researched paper and erudite answers on exams?

AP is no phrenologist, but really doesn’t think the heads here are any bigger than average.  Perhaps you were unlucky enough to meet a student who was a little snooty towards you, but most of them are all-right folks … honest.

Oh, I’m sure that Penn has a lot of pointless things, too. Incidentally, plenty of other universities have answer people, although pale impostors of the real thing. The University of Chicago library’s online suggestions/comments (Maroon Opinions) even credits the Perkins answer person as an inspiration:
