Lee Gruber Clark’s new exhibit, Illuminations: A Book of Hours, runs from September 15 – October 31st in the Divinity School Library during library hours. An artist reception and remarks will be held on October 29th at 12:20pm.
Clark’s work exhibits an understanding of the spiritual connection and physical link between all aspects of life. She is currently a full-time, working artist with a studio in Raleigh’s ArtSpace and both sells and exhibits her work from Studio 208. Her work coincides with October as Theological Libraries Month by drawing attention to a historically visual book, the “Book of Hours.”
Screening of “The Monastery: Mr. Vig and the Nun” September 8, 2008

A panel discussion will follow.
The film is about an 86-year-old bachelor and a Russian nun who becomes part of his life as he continues a lifelong quest to turn his castle into a Russian orthodox monastery. View the trailer.
“Alternately bemused, confused and fussy, Mr. Vig gives his Danish castle to the Russian Orthodox Church for a monastery,” according to a review by Robbie Roberts, a former film critic. “When the church accepts and sends a nun to seal the deal, Mr. Vig finds out there’ll have to be a few changes around the house. A beautifully shot and witty meditation on the peevish merging of life and faith.”
The film won two awards at the Full Frame Film Festival: the Full Frame Grand Jury Award and the Charles E. Guggenheim Emerging Artist Award.
