Loeb Classical Library newly organized October 29, 2009
Posted by Andy Keck in : Library resources , 1 comment so farBy patron request, we have divided our Loeb collection into Greek and Latin sets which are organized by author and located near the stairs leading to the Reference Room. The Loeb Classical Library has become a standard source for scholarly editions of important Greek and Latin works with English translation. The editors of each volume provide introductions, critical and explanatory notes, and selective bibliographies. We hope the new organization will facilitate your browsing of these significant volumes.

was launched May 1 as an open access, peer-reviewed electronic academic
journal at http://www.methodistreview.org/index.php/mr. Methodist
Review publishes scholarly articles in all areas and eras of Wesleyan
and Methodist studies, including biblical, theological, ethical,
philosophical, practical, historical, biographical, and
social-scientific topics and methodologies.
The journal is partly a successor to and partly a transformation
of “Quarterly Review: A Journal of Theological Resources for Ministry”
(QR), which was published jointly by the United Methodist Board of
Higher Education and Ministry and The United Methodist Publishing House
from 1980 to 2005.
Images of mainline Protestant children and families in the U.S. April 2, 2009
Posted by Andy Keck in : Library resources , add a commentWe are proud to announce the launch of the Protestant Family digital collection which includes digitized article and advertising images of Protestant children and families in the U.S., within Protestant-supported or targeted magazines. This project follows two strains. First, we note the depiction of family size and health, article-related images and advertisements on scientific nutrition, and other images directly related to scientific progress and domesticity. The second strain is currently less fully developed, on the depiction of families in mission settings, in particular depictions of family life in the two-thirds world. These images are of interest for those teaching in North American religious history, gender and religion, health and religion, and bioethics.

The Loeb Classical Library has become a standard source for scholarly editions of important Greek and Latin works with English translation. The editors of each volume provide introductions, critical and explanatory notes, and selective bibliographies. The “free books” formerly in this location have been moved to the York Room.
