Onslow! October 17, 2008

Posted by Tom Moore in : Uncategorized , trackback

Who was Onslow? Georges Onslow was a French composer of English descent particularly noted for his large and masterful production of string quartets and quintets. Interestingly, the street which runs north on the opposite side of Markham from Baldwin Auditorium is named Onslow (for the composer? who knows?)

The Danish National Library has now digitized and made available dozens of quartets and quintets by this interesting figure.View them here.
