Process_Description:
The following steps were performed by ESRI: Extracted the data set (eur_w_maj.shp) from AND Global Road Data. Added the eastern boundary of the Caspian Sea with data originally from World Vector Shoreline. Removed the administrative boundary lines within all large divided water features then merged the features into themselves. Added the CNTRYNAME attribute and coded it based on values from Europe Countries. Added the SQKM attribute and calculated its values. Added and coded the RANK attribute based on values from the SQKM attribute. Split the water features into major lakes and major rivers. Selected the lake features manually and output them into the Europe Major Lakes data set, switched the selection, and then output the remaining river features into the Europe Major Rivers data set. Converted the data sets to SDC. Created their ArcGIS® layer files (.lyr), projection files (.prj), and spatial indices.
