DescriptionReproduction of letter from Arch Dixon (U.S. senator from Kentucky) and A.J. Anderson to Mr. Gavitt of Evansville, Indiana, sheriff of Vanderburgh County. $500 reward was offered for testimony that would lead to the conviction of "Brown," charged with "stealing negroes." The circular letter notes that the testimony was secured and the accused was sent to prison for two years. Reproduction undated; original letter dated June 6, 1854, from Henderson, Kentucky.
