DescriptionHandwritten letter from Mary T. Bentley to unknown recipient(s) about a business opportunity for producing and selling Confederate Treasury notes, after having sold Confederate scrip herself. She frames the the offer not only as a money-making venture, but also as a form of economic warfare. She states: "This, so far from injuring our cause, would tend to weaken the Rebellion...I can make no more patriotic wish than that one hundred millions of it were put immediately into circulatlon among the Rebels."
