    Subscription notice for "The progressive farmer, the great Southern agricultural weekly" for 1889. New features will include "serial stories, practical suggestions on domestic economy, the science of health, education, veterinary problems, sanitary architecture and natural history by the best known literary and scientific talent of the country." Stories by authors such as Rev. Edward Everett Hale, D. D., Mr. Maurice Thompson, Mr. Joaquin Miller, and Mr. Franklin File, will be kept short, and themes will be "American and the reader will not be annoyed by foreign scenes, characters and styles of composition", and will include stories about New England life, California, one serial set in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, and one about New York.
