Cheraw (S.C.) Photograph Album, 1899-1904

Photographs taken by unidentified travelers in South Carolina (especially in and around Cheraw) and Virginia. Scenes in South Carolina include various buildings in Cheraw, cotton and turpentine production and processing, and Cash's Station. Also, photographs of Portsmouth and Old Point Comfort, and house interiors. Photographs include albumen prints and cyanotypes.

United States Army Signal Corps Aviation Section, Aerial Tour Photograph Album, 1918

Photographs taken during an aerial tour of parts of Florida, Georgia, and Alabama, by Army aviators stationed at Dorr Field, Arcadia, Fla., Oct.-Nov. 1918. Includes many scenes and aerial views of cities, towns, countryside, and airfields.

Frank Cousins Papers, 1891-1901

Albumen photographic prints of interior and exterior views of private houses, churches, businesses, street scenes, and public buildings in Salem, Mass., focuses principally on Cousins' interest and work in colonial architecture. The photographs are part of a larger collection (220 items) of Cousins' photographs in the Special Collections Library, most of which are also of Salem, but also include some from other towns in Massachusetts.

Francis Warrenton Dawson Family Papers

Photographs from the Francis Warrenton Dawson Family Papers showing various scenes in Charleston, S.C., following the earthquake of 1886. The photographs are part of a larger collection (7,918 items) of letters, writings, diaries, and other papers of various members of the Dawson and Morgan families relating to such topics as the Civil War, the American Embassy in Paris, and Colonial Williamsburg, Inc.

Wyatt T. Dixon Papers

Principally street scenes of Durham, N.C., 1930s-1950s, showing life, architecture, etc. Photographs are drawn from a larger collection (ca. 2700 items) of Dixon's papers relating to his work as a journalist for the Durham Herald and his experiences in World War I.

Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce Papers

Principally photographs of street scenes, buildings, architecture, and life in Durham, N.C., from the 1920s to the 1960s. The photographs are from a larger collection of papers which include minutes and other records of the Durham Chamber of Commerce.

William Gale Gedney Photograph Collection, 1960s-1980s

Documentary photographs divided into 4 separate series, depicting urban and street life in various contexts. Included are photos from Benares, India; scenes from various cities as part of Gedney's "Night" series; photos from New York City; and photos from San Francisco. The photographs were selected and drawn from a larger collection (49,870 items) of Gedney's photographs and writings which are held by the Special Collections Library. Photographs taken principally in and around Durham, N.C., ca. 1910-1930, of buildings, events, persons, etc.. Photographs are part of a larger collection of ca. 350 photographs.

Philippine Islands and Far East Photograph Albums, ca. 1899-ca. 1902

Photographs and collotypes from several different albums principally depicting scenes in and around Manila, Luzon, Cebu, and other locations in the Philippine Islands. Included are rural and urban scenes, public buildings, residential areas, agriculture, commerce, shipping, American civilian and military personnel, and Filipinos of various classes. Also included are a number of photographs from Canton, China.
