May 6. I must have read 100 accounts by now of violence concerning examinations.
The education minister before congress told the assembly they should use their "great moral persuasion" over the students to prevent cheating. And also the army to be placed on duty during exams.

Ramesh is supposed to be married May 17. His parents have made the arrangements. He has not seen the girl and will not until the day of the wedding. He does not want to get married at this time but he must abide by his parents' wishes. His father is a teacher and sides with his son but his mother is in control and with a few tears has the situation in hand. he is the eldest son, about 19, and it is considered bad to leave your teens and not get married. 3 sisters and one brother. English major wants to do his Ph.D. on Thomas Hardy. Innocent, frustrated, he wants to leave India. He will become trapped like the rest.
Of course the main question is why if he is a bright, intelligent boy he does not rebel, why does he accept so readily?
