Train is almost 4 hours late, hot , David makes us wait every minute of the time, Ram was very tired. David nervous. I was collapsing, Peace corps guy from Gazipore shares David's compartment. From Houston, straight - he is interested in photography - David emotional - Ram depressed we go back in a rickshaw through the crawling dark streets - lassi bd - late 12:00.

at night when I prepare to sleep on roof. Mr. Singh's wife has hidden my mat, horse play I put my things on her mat. She continues to tease me finally I get a bucket of water, pretending to splash her, etc. we chase each other around roof finally she gets my mat. The other wife and child are lying on their mats, quietly through all this. Mr. Singh's wife has become increasingly playfull and intimate.

Go to see tutor in afternoon - with Boy down the lane for walk to Dassanath, he is embarassed I do not wear western clothes, he shows me off to some friends not very successfully the conversation is simple minded. He treats me like a first day tourist. - home eat oranges and prepare for bed again to the roof and again Mrs. Singh's wife has hidden my mat. Real horseplay ensues, she will not stop.
