Wherever William Gedney went, he photographed, and many of the pictures he made over his long photographic career were not part of specific projects or series. When visiting the Cornetts in eastern Kentucky in 1972, for example, Gedney made night forays into Knoxville, Tennessee to photograph. In 1975, funded by a National Endowment for the Arts grant, Gedney returned to California, photographing in San Francisco and in Los Angeles. A number of the photographs in Gedney's ongoing Night Series fall into this miscellaneous catagory.
