  Gasoline rationing coupon booklet for classification A. The booklet came with 6 pages of 8 coupons each. The no. 6 on this example indicates that it was for the 6th two-month period of the year in which it was issued. The A classification was for passenger cars and designated for basic use. The number of gallons in a unit could vary. Motivational statements: "Buy United States War Bonds and Stamps." "Conserve gasoline and tires. Careful upkeep and common-sense driving will increase your gasoline mileage and lengthen the life of your car." Background paper contains stylized Great Seal and the phrase "U.S. Government Ration" in blue ink.
