The John Paver Papers, 1920-1989, documents Paver's career in the outdoor advertising industry, especially his years as president of the National Outdoor Advertising Bureau (NOAB). Featured here are approximately 300 images from the Photographs, Negatives and Slides Series of the collection, which document a great deal of outdoor advertising mounted in that era, and also provide evidence of other areas of Paver's life such as his garden work. Duke University Libraries originally created the descriptive metadata for the collection as part of the Resource of Outdoor Advertising Descriptions (ROAD) database, an NEH grant-funded project to provide access to Duke's outdoor advertising material. Images were then digitized with the assistance of a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC).
