Say: can this Union sever?
We don’t believe it can;
’Twas won by General Washington
Who was a Union

The Star-Spangled Banner,
Oh! long may it wave
O’er patriotic Freemen,
And o’er Seceders’ graves!

Brave Scott, the hero, forward
In battle yet once more,
And slay away such chivalry,
As you never fought before.

Then forward, loyal soldiers,
Wherever Cotton’s king,
And shoot down all the rebels,
Until they Mercy s

Remember the memory
Of Braves that were slain,
And ever to be honored,
While sacred their names!

The United-States Navy
Will always prove true,
By firing at the pirates
Of Jeff Davis’ crew.

To wed one another,
The States all agreed:
Dear Brethren, then come back:
How can you secede?

Moral: Come all, ye politicians,
Of high and low estate,
Submit unto the ballot-box,
Or else you’ll meet ill fate.
