The Old Banner’s Waving!

There it waves in the sunlight, with its folds broad and free,
The old loyal banner that shields you and me!
And Hancock and English are the leaders so true,
That speed as in triumph its Fame to renew!
Oh! how grandly is sounding the bugle’s shrill blast,
That is warning the foe-men, the die’s surely cast!
For the leaders that we honor, with a great Nation’s trust,
’Neath the old flag are marching, and conquer they must!

Oh, we’ll silence the “factions” and their bold “noble schemes,”
That old loyal banner, they can’t stand it’s beams!
The peace of the Nation that so long has endured,
With Hancock and English, again is secured!
Now our forces we marshal in ranks firm and bold,
With a step like the army we fought with of old;
Oh! the leaders that we honor with a great Nation’s trust,
’Neath the old flag are marching, and conquer they must!

With the might of a torrent we’ll sweep down the foe,
And Garfield and Arthur we’ll lay mighty low!
The Statesman and Soldier, and friend of us all,
Will quell opposition and make “Faction” fall!
Then a cheer for Our Hancock, the honest and brave,
May our bright starry banner for him long, long wave!
Oh! the leaders that we honor with a great Nation’s trust,
’Neath the old flag are marching, and conquer they must!
