Our Hero's Reign
Our Hero’s Reign.
Oh! sound the trumpet cheerfully—
McClellan holds the reign;
His watchword is true Liberty—
And Temperance again.
Our hero’s notes are ringing
O’er mountain, sea, and plain;
Ten thousand hearts are praying
For Freedom—Peace again.
There is an arm in prayer to save,
Though the storm of war is drear;
God shields the noble and the brave,
When Rebels always fear.
Then sound his name in story,
Oh! bear it far above—
The notes of war and glory—
To the throne of heavenly love.
