The Union Flag Triumphant Waves.

The Union Flag triumphant waves,
On Freedom’s mountains ’mid the mighty west,
The red, white and blue that cheers each freeman’s heart,
That sweetly soothes his soul to rest.

Bathed in deepest blue mid the ethereal sea,
Beneath God’s own constellated coronal on high;
’Mid clouds festooned in stripes blood red, pure white,
Reflecting golden lustre from the sunbeam’s dye.

Methinks that angels’ voices rock the cloud wreathed air.
That angles guard the hallowed spot from intrusive feet;
That all unseen, the radiant hosts of Heaven come forth,
And chant Freedom’s choral hymn to Heavenly music sweet.

When blue-eyed morn first wakes the living world to consciousness,
When Heaven reflects the gorgeous hue of Liberty;
When cloud-buds like flowers, roses and lillies, bloom in union.
To deck the starry chaplet of the free.

Then let each patriot true by serious contemplation led,
Give all his heaven-born thoughts to God on high;
Give praise to Him to whom alone all praise is due,
For the triumph of sweet Liberty.

Thou heavenly virgin sweet, O Liberty!
Arrayed in thine ermined robes of peace, pure white;
Streaked by the blood-red streams of war,
By which our forefathers won thee ’mid tempest, toil and fight.

The Union flag triumphant waves,
On Freedom’s mountains ’mid the mighty west;
The red, white and blue that cheers each patriot’s heart,
That sweetly soothes his soul to rest.
