Those Stripes And Bright Stars!
What is it I see so proudly o’er us streaming,
With each Color arrayed, and each Star in its place,
That long waved in peace, and where bayonets were gleaming,
In lime that has past, with beauty and grace?
’Tis the Star-Spangled Banner that all Traitors defy:
For, those Stripes and bright Stars forever shall be
The Flag of our home, and the Flag of the Free!
Oh! where is the Flag with each enchanting spell,
That bind us to those Colors that o’er us wave?
Where is the Flag scaled with blood of more noble victory’s tell,
That has come down from generations of the Brave?
And to all who would polluto we would say: beware!
Proud are we, all, of that Emblem of the Brave,
That hangs, polluted with the Traitors’ foul stain;
But we will wash out, with blood, each Traitor and each knave,
And place our Flag where it shall wave again.
The Southerners we’ll humble, and if Rebels still defy!..
Then, drink for success to the warriors for right,
Who have left happy homes, as our Fathers of yore,
To bear that Flag with their sinewy arms of might,
And place it again where it shall wave once more!
[Assumed_Word?]it till it shall wave o’er all our land!
