The Bonnie Blue Flag!

The Bonnie Blue Flag!

We are a band of brothers, and native to the soil,
Fighting for the property we gained by honest toil;
And when our rights were threatened, the cry rose near; and far,
Hurrah fur the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single Star.

As long as the Union was faithfull to her trust,
Like friends and like brothers we were kind, we were just
But now when Northern treachery attempts our rights to mar,
We’ll hoist the Bonnie Flag that bears a single Star

First gallent South Carolina nobly made the stand,
Then came Alabama who took her by the hand,
Next quickly Missisisippi, Georgia and Florida;
All raised the Bonnie Flag that bears a single Star.

Ye men of valor gather round the banner of the right,
Texas and fair Louisiana join us in the fight—
Davis our loved president, Sthepens statesman rare.
Now rally round the Bonnie Flag that beares a single Star.

Then heres to brave Virginia, the Old Dominion State,
With the Young Confederacy at length has linked her fate;
Impled by her example other states prepar,
To hoist the Bonnie Blue Flag that beares a single Star.

Then heres to Good Old Maryland, although she is not out,
She was first to tight the enemy and turn their face about,
She’ll join the Young Confederacy in a spreading year or so,
And Link her fate with the Bonnie Flag that beares a single Star.

Then heres to our Confedracy, strong we are and brave,
Like patriots of old we’ll fight our hertage to save,
And rather than submit to shame to die we would prefer,
Cheer to the Bonnie Blue Flag that beares a single Star.
