Policies and Procedures for Non-Library Related Use
The Baker Methodist Research Center, located in the Divinity School Library, may be reserved by Duke University personnel for non-library related events. This information sheet outlines the amenities available in the Center, policies related to its use and the procedure for reserving the space.
What is available in the Baker Methodist Research Center?
- Two movable rectangular tables; each table seats four to six persons comfortably
- Twenty-one matching, padded chairs with space for additional chairs that could be arranged in lecture or circular style
- Ten Internet connections
- Electrical plugs for laptop computers or other equipment
- Windows overlooking the Duke Chapel quadrangle
What are the use policies for the Baker Methodist Research Center?
- The Center is to be used primarily by the library's researchers, however, the room may be reserved by Duke University personnel for other academic events such as special seminars or scholarly conferences
- The two movable tables may be removed from the room only with the permission of the Library Director
- No eating or smoking are allowed. Drinks are allowed only in spill-proof containers.
What is the procedure to reserve the Baker Methodist Research Center?
- Complete the reservation request form
- Return the form to the Library Director at least two weeks prior to the event
- The Library Director will contact the requestor indicating whether or not the reservation is accepted
- The Library Director reserves the right to deny a reservation request
