TRLN Patrons
TRLN patrons (UNC-CH, NCCU, NCSU) may use their home institution ID to check out material at any Duke University Library. Your ID will be entered into our system subject confirmation of your current enrollment.
Other Visitors
While everyone is welcome to make on-site use of the library, those who do not have a current, formal relationship with Duke must pay an annual fee for a borrowers card in order to check books out.
Patrons must present their Borrowers Card at the circulation desk to check out materials from the library. Books have 4 week loans and a check out limit of 10 books.
Please note that books may be recalled for use by another patron after two weeks. Return recalled books promptly as there is a fine of $3/day past due date for recalls. To protect your privacy, the library does not give out the name of the patron who has checked out a book.

Application for Borrower's Card
Those interested in obtaining a borrower's card should complete an online application. All applications will be reviewed by a full-time Circulation Department staff member Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Note: This process may take more than a day. Upon approval of your application, your card can be picked up at the Divinity School Library with either cash or check payment.. Your application must be approved and a card issued before books may be checked out.
Applicants requesting fee waivers or credits based on contributions to Duke University or The Friends of the Library must make these requests at Perkins Library. The All Campus Card (Gold Card) is available to Duke-affiliated (immediate family members or significant others) borrowers for a $5.00 charge pending review of their application.

While access for alumni is free, you will need to register and login to the Duke Alumni Directory for access. See also our full description of resources and instructions.
Renewals
Books may be renewed in person, by calling (660-3450), or by using the web form. Books may only be renewed twice.
Document Delivery
Document Delivery services are unavailable to visitors except for retrieving items located off-site at the LSC. If you need Interlibrary Loan service, contact your local library.
Fines
Other than the fines above for recalls, there are no fines in the traditional sense. We will send an overdue notice at 10 days and a bill at 30 days. Replacement cost is $100 per book. In addition, there is a non-refundable, $25-per-book processing fee assessed with this bill. Failure to pay overdue fines and replacement costs, or failure to comply with the Divinity School Library's circulation and recall policies, will result in the suspension or loss of borrowing privileges at all Duke Libraries.
