TRLN Patrons
TRLN patrons (UNC-CH, NCCU, NCSU) may use their home institution ID to check out material at any Duke University Library. Your ID will be entered into our system subject confirmation of your current enrollment.

Other Visitors
While everyone is welcome to make on-site use of the library, those who do not have a current, formal relationship with Duke must pay an annual fee for a borrowers card in order to check books out.

Patrons must present their Borrowers Card at the circulation desk to check out materials from the library. Books have 4 week loans and a check out limit of 10 books.

Please note that books may be recalled for use by another patron after two weeks. Return recalled books promptly as there is a fine of $3/day past due date for recalls. To protect your privacy, the library does not give out the name of the patron who has checked out a book.

Borrower's cards
The All Campus Card (Gold Card) allows the cardholder book check out privileges at all Perkins System Libraries, the Divinity School Library, the Medical Center Library, the Law Library, and the Fuqua School of Business Library. This card is available for a cost of $100/year or $75/year for alumni.

The Perkins/Divinity Card (White Card) allows the cardholder book check out privileges at Perkins System Libraries and the Divinity School Library. This card does not include privileges at the Law, Medical Center or Fuqua School of Business Libraries. Persons interested in The Perkins/Divinity Card may apply for this card at either Perkins Library or the Divinity School Library. This card costs $35 /year.

The Duke Alumni Card allows the cardholder book check out privileges at Perkins System Libraries and the Divinity School Library. This card does not include privileges at the Law, Medical Center or Fuqua School of Business Libraries. This card will also provide a number of other discounts and benefits in addition to library priviledges. Persons interested in the Duke Alumni Card should obtain one from the DukeCard Office (100 West Union), Mon-Fri 8:00 am - 6:00 pm.

Application for Borrower's Card
Those interested in obtaining a borrower's card should complete an online application. All applications will be reviewed by a full-time Circulation Department staff member Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Note: This process may take more than a day. Upon approval of your application, your card can be picked up at the Divinity School Library with either cash or check payment.. Your application must be approved and a card issued before books may be checked out.

Applicants requesting fee waivers or credits based on contributions to Duke University or The Friends of the Library must make these requests at Perkins Library. The All Campus Card (Gold Card) is available to Duke-affiliated (immediate family members or significant others) borrowers for a $5.00 charge pending review of their application.

Alumni access to ATLAS
The Divinity School Library at Duke University is pleased to offer our alumni access to ATLAS, an online collection of more than eighty major religion and theology journals from as early as 1924 to the present. This is a licensed database and while access to alumni is free, you will need to register in order to receive an assigned username and password to enter the database.

To access ATLASerials®, please go to: http://search.atlaonline.com/

Renewals
Books may be renewed in person, by calling (660-3450), or by using the web form. Books may only be renewed twice.

Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) through Duke is unavailable to visitors. If you need ILL service, contact your local library.

Fines
Other than the fines above for recalls, there are no fines in the traditional sense. We will send an overdue notice at 10 days and a bill at 30 days. Replacement cost is $100 per book. In addition, there is a non-refundable, $25-per-book processing fee assessed with this bill. Failure to pay overdue fines and replacement costs, or failure to comply with the Divinity School Library's circulation and recall policies, will result in the suspension or loss of borrowing privileges at all Duke Libraries.
