Rendville, Ohio, 1956
Rendville was an integrated coal mining town founded in 1879 in the Hocking River Valley. Served by the Ohio Central Railroad and the Shawnee and Muskingum River Railroad, the town grew and prospered during the post Civil War boom period into the twentieth century. The gradual depletion of the regions' coal reserves marked the decline of the one-industry town.
