Directions to Lilly Library

• From Chapel Hill and points south of Durham
• From Raleigh and points east of Durham
• From Greensboro and points west of Durham

From Chapel Hill and points south of Durham

• Follow 15-501 north to Exit 108-B:  exit right at Durham Freeway (Highway 147) south.  Remain on Durham Freeway for 1.5 miles
• Exit right onto Exit 14 - Swift Avenue/East Campus.
• Turn left at the end of the ramp.  At the 3rd  traffic light, the intersection with Main Street, Swift becomes Broad Street.  Continue through this intersection.
• Turn right at the second traffic light onto Markham Avenue.
• The first right is a driveway bounded by low stone walls.  This drive will take you into the parking areas of East Campus.  Follow this curving driveway until you see a large parking lot on the left.  The rear of the Lilly Library is adjacent to the tennis courts by the parking lot.

From Raleigh and points east of Durham

Via I-40

• Take I-40 west
• Exit right at Exit 279, Durham Freeway/Highway 147 north.  
• Follow 147 through town, exiting right at Exit 14 - Swift Avenue/East Campus.
• Turn right at the end of the ramp.  At the next traffic light, the intersection with Main Street, Swift becomes Broad Street.  Continue through this intersection.
• Turn right at the 2nd traffic light onto Markham Avenue.
• The first right is a driveway bounded by low stone walls.  This drive will take you into the parking areas of East Campus.  Follow this curving driveway until you see a large parking lot on the left.  The rear of the Lilly Library is adjacent to the tennis courts by the parking lot.

Via 70

• Proceed on 70 west, merging with I-85 South.
• Exit at Guess Road.  At the end of exit, turn left.  Remain on Guess Road to the traffic light that intersects with Club Boulevard.  Note:  At the Club Boulevard intersection, Guess Road's name changes to Buchanan Boulevard.  Remain in the right lane and proceed on Buchanan Boulevard.
• Turn right, at the 2nd traffic light, onto Markham Avenue.  A low stone wall on the left borders East Campus.
• Turn left at the 5th  entry in the wall.  This drive will take you into the parking areas of East Campus.  Follow this curving driveway until you see a large parking lot on the left.  The rear of the Lilly Library is adjacent to the tennis courts by the parking lot.

From Greensboro and points west of Durham

• At the I-40/I-85 split, remain left and follow I-85 north towards Durham. 
• Exit right onto Highway 147 South, Durham Freeway.
• Exit right onto Exit 14 - Swift Avenue/East Campus.
• Turn left at end of ramp.  At the 3rd traffic light, the intersection with Main Street, Swift becomes Broad Street.  Continue through this intersection.
• Turn right at 2nd traffic light onto Markham Avenue.
• The first right is a driveway bounded by low stone walls.  This drive will take you into the parking areas of East Campus.  Follow this curving driveway until you see a large parking lot on the left.  The rear of the Lilly Library is adjacent to the tennis courts by the parking lot.

Weekday visitor parking may be found in a few metered spots between the Bell Tower classrooms and Brodie gym, as well as on city streets adjacent to the campus. More Information is available from Parking Services (919-684-7275).
