Chests, 2'-5" long x 1'-6" wide x 1'-8" high
Serving as bases for the Ishii vases, flanking the north fireplace and below the portrait of James Augustus Thomas, are a pair of teak chests. One has the original finish, while the other has been coated with black lacquer. Fairly simple in design, the chests are carved at the edges and along the bases, and are fitted with brass fixtures.
