E-Reserves
Electronic Reserves allow authorized Duke users to access supplementary course reading materials. Documents may be printed for personal use.
To place material on E-Reserves:
- Submissions for electronic reserves are sent directly to the Perkins Library Reserves Department. Lilly staff will forward e-reserves materials and completed forms to Perkins, or you may send them directly to Campus Box 90173. To access E-Reserves:
Film and Video Reserves
Film and video reserve forms can be completed to place films and videos on reserve for a semester at Lilly Library. Films may also be reserved for classroom showings using a classroom showing reserve form.
Lilly Book Reserves
To place books on reserve at Lilly:
- Reserve forms are available at the Lilly Main Desk.
- You may also print and bring the completed forms to the Lilly Main Desk:

Open and Closed Reserves
Books on Open Reserves are shelved in Room 113 (Current Periodicals)and are available for use in the building; the books are not checked out and may not leave the library.
Books on Closed Reserves are located behind the circulation desk and are available for check-out for the length of time designated by the instructor.
Tips for Placing Materials on Reserve
- Please allow sufficient time for processing so that items are available when students need to access them
- If possible, bring Reserve items to Lilly between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Choose one reserve location per course so that students may find materials easily.
