Some materials in the Duke University Libraries collections are at our off-site storage facility called the Library Service Center (LSC).
How can I request materials housed at the LSC?
- Call us at (919) 596-3097 or (919) 613-6535 before you visit the LSC so staff can retrieve your materials and set them up for you to view in the LSC Reading Room.
- Request materials online by following our step-by-step instructions for each item in the sidebar to the right. LSC staff will retrieve your materials and send them to your preferred library for pickup.
- Keep in mind that patrons borrow materials that are housed at the LSC according to the borrowing & renewal policies of the campus library that owns them.
Where can I view materials at the LSC?
Although you cannot browse the LSC collection as you would in a standard library, you can view materials in the LSC Reading Room. Our staff will gather your requested materials and deliver them to the Reading Room, which has tables, computer workstations and a photocopier. The Reading Room is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm. If you have a large number of requests, please call in advance so the staff can retrieve your materials and have them ready for use in the Reading Room or for immediate pick up.
