Directions to East Campus Libraries

Lilly Library is on the main East Campus quad, about half-way between the bus stop and Baldwin Auditorium, on the left across from the East Campus Union when you're facing Baldwin.

The Music Library is in the Mary Duke Biddle Music Building, to the left of Baldwin and behind Pegram Residence Hall if you're approaching from the East Campus quad.

Driving Directions

From Chapel Hill:

From Raleigh:

Via I-40:

  • Take I-40 west, exiting right onto Exit 279, the Durham Freeway/Highway 147 north.
  • Follow through town, exiting right onto Exit 14 - Swift Avenue/East Campus.
  • Turn right at the end of the ramp. At the next stop light, the intersection with Main Street, Swift becomes Broad Street. Continue straight through this intersection and turn right at the next traffic light onto Markham Avenue.
  • Turn at the first right onto a narrow driveway bounded by low stone walls. This drive will take you into the parking areas of East Campus. Follow this curving driveway until you see a large parking lot on the left. Turn left here; within this lot, visitor parking is available in a few metered spots at the immediate left.

Via US70:

  • Take US70 west, following the merge with I-85. Exit right onto Gregson Street (Northgate Mall). Follow the ramp onto Gregson, over the highway; the mall will be on your right at this point.
  • Turn right at the second light onto Club Boulevard (just past Northgate).
  • Turn left at the next light onto Buchanan Boulevard. Follow Buchanan Boulevard until the second traffic light - the Markham Avenue intersection - and turn right.
  • The low stone wall marks East Campus; you'll be looking for the fifth opening on the left. Turn left onto this driveway; this drive will take you into the parking areas of East Campus. Follow this curving driveway until you see a large parking lot on the left. Turn left here; within this lot, visitor parking is available in a few metered spots at the immediate left.
