The Duke University Libraries are nearing the end of a selection process for the new, integrated library system (ILS). The new system, which we plan to have up and running next summer, will pull together the many library technical and public operations which are now handled primarily by two very different software products. The new system will also help us to take advantage, now and in the future, of many digital resources developed at Duke and beyond.
One of the final stages in the selection process is the campus visit by each of the three vendors still under consideration. The three vendors (and their systems) are Endeavor (Voyager), Innovative Interfaces (Millennium) and Ex Libris (Aleph). For each vendor a session has been set aside for public demonstration of their online catalogs and patron empowerment features (e.g., customization of searches and retrieved displays and submitting interlibrary loan requests).
We strongly encourage interested faculty and other members of the Duke community to attend these public sessions:
Endeavor: Thursday, May 1, 3:15-4:15, 226 Perkins Library
Innovative: Monday, May 12, 3:15-4:15, 4047 School of Law
Ex Libris: Thursday, May 15, 3:15-4:15, 4047 School of Law
