Join Henry Petroski on Thursday, 20 November, at 7:30 p.m. in the Rare Book Room at Perkins Library for a discussion of his latest book, Small Things Considered: Why There Is No Perfect Design. In the book Petroski considers the circumstances that gave rise to the invention of common objects such as chairs, light bulbs, potato peelers and toothbrushes, and the creative process that moves them toward perfection.
Henry Petroski, Aleksandar S. Vesic Professor of Civil Engineering at Duke, is also the author of To Engineer is Human, The Pencil, The Evolution of Useful Things, and The Book on the Bookshelf.
The quad in front of the Chapel has been reserved for parking for this free, public event.
