On Monday, 14 June, at 12:00 noon, at Perkins Library in room 226, Brent Bianchi, South Asian Studies Fellow at Perkins Library, will talk about his study of traditional music in South and Southeast Asia, with an emphasis on the Kathmandu valley in Nepal. Bianchi will discuss the cultural contexts of the musical genres and his experiences of learning with different teachers. He will also touch upon "Westernization" and intercultural connections (as well as differences) within the regions discussed. The presentation will feature slides and sound clips. The talk is sponsored by the Perkins departments of Reference and International and Area Studies. The event is open to the public. Attendees are invited to bring their lunches.
