Duke Libraries' Diversity Working Group Sponsors Summer Film Festival

Three films will be screened as part of the DWG 2004 Summer Film Series. The programs, which will include a discussion of the film, are open to the public.

The first film, "In the Light of Reverence," will be shown on Tuesday, 20 July, at 1:00 p.m. in the Richard White Auditorium on East Campus.

Summary: Across the United States, Native Americans are struggling to protect their sacred places. Religious freedom, so valued in America, is not guaranteed to those who practice land-based religions. This film presents three indigenous communities in their struggles to protect their sacred sites. (74 min.)

The next film, "Faith and Doubt at Ground Zero," will be shown on 28 July, and the series will conclude on 2 August with "Muslims." Details about the second and third films will be posted closer to the dates of the showings.
