Emma Spaulding Bryant will be the subject when Ruth Douglas Currie talks about her recently published book entitled Emma Spaulding Bryant: Civil War Bride, Carpetbagger's Wife, Ardent Feminist--Letters 1860-1900. Currie became interested in Emma Bryant while she was writing a biography of Bryant's husband, John Emory Bryant, whose papers are held by Duke's Rare Book, Manuscript, and Special Collections Library. Ruth Douglas Currie Ph.D. '74 will speak on Thursday, 23 September, at 4:00 p.m. in the Rare Book Room at Perkins Library. The talk will be followed by a book signing and reception.
