At 4:00 p.m. on 29 March 2005, Curtis Richardson will deliver a lecture in the Rare Book Room at Perkins Library. The talk, entitled "Wetlands of Mass Destruction," will be a discussion of how Saddam Hussein's regime destroyed the marshes of southern Iraq. Richardson will also give an update on the current condition of the marshes based on his recent travel to the region. Curtis Richardson is a professor of resource ecology and chair of the Environmental Sciences and Policy Division of Duke's Nicholas School of the Environment. He is also director of the Duke University Wetland Center.
