Gene Cheek, author of The Color of Love: A Mother’s Choice in the Jim Crow South, will discuss and sign his book. The Color of Love is the true story of Cheek’s separation from his mother in the early 1960s when a Winston-Salem judge forced her to choose between him and his biracial infant half-brother. Co-sponsored by the Duke University Libraries’ Diversity Working Group and the Office for Institutional Equity. Bring your lunch; beverages and dessert will be provided.
