Rare Music in the Rare Book Room

"4+1: The 5-String Cello," 4pm, Friday, 23 March, Perkins Library Rare Book Room

Join Brenda Neece, curator of the Duke University Musical Instrument Collections, in a romp through the mysterious world of the 5-string cello.  Hear musical selections written for the instrument from the time of Bach through the modern day and discuss fact, fiction, and speculation about the 5-string cello as Brenda Neece pieces together its more than 300-year history.  A reception will follow the event.  Co-sponsored by the Duke University Musical Instrument Collections and the Duke University Libraries.
