Presented by Gil Merkx, vice provost for international affairs, Duke University, and former editor of The Latin American Research Review.

The session, open to the entire Duke community, provides students with an informal forum for discussion and dialogue.

For twenty years Gil Merkx was the editor of the Latin American Research Review, the premier journal of Latin American Studies. He has also served on editorial boards for journals in Argentina, Nicaragua and Israel. He is an esteemed teacher and mentor to generations of students in Latin American Studies and in Sociology.
