Oliver Sacks, M.D. will present the 2008 Weaver Lecture, which the Duke Libraries host biennially in memory of William Weaver T’72, a former member of the Library Advisory Board. Sacks, professor of clinical neurology and clinical psychiatry at Columbia University and the author of Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain, will speak on the subject of “Music, Healing and the Brain.” In addition to Musicophilia, Sacks is also author of nine other books, including Awakenings and The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. The Weaver Lecture is co-sponsored by the Duke Institute for Brain Sciences.
