Four Library Collections with One Search

The Duke University Libraries and the libraries at North Carolina Central University, North Carolina State University, and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill are introducing SearchTRLN (see the link in the search box on the Duke Libraries homepage).  SearchTRLN offers a single search of the collections of the four libraries, all members of the Triangle Research Libraries Network (TRLN).

Here are the benefits of SearchTRLN:
•Retrieve holdings for the libraries at Duke, NCCU, NCSU, and UNC with a single search
•Request items held at NCCU, NCSU, and UNC directly from the search results page
•View tables of contents, summaries, and cover images in the search results
•Browse with greater ease and efficiency
•Navigate screens that have streamlined designs

Here are a couple of issues we expect to resolve as SearchTRLN is further developed:
•Bugs in the "format" search;  a search for archival material, for example, may also retrieve books
•Incomplete descriptions and call numbers in entries for manuscript and document collections

Coming in May: SearchTRLN interface customized for the Duke Libraries catalog and incorporating enhanced local features and services
