The Duke Libraries' Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History will host a Staff and Scholar Tea this Wednesday, 21 May, at 3:30 in the Biddle Rare Book Room at Perkins Library. Professor Marc Weinberger, a visiting scholar from the Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, will discuss his research on humor in outdoor advertising for a forthcoming book.
He will review his findings and the process he and his partner developed for identifying and choosing billboard images for his book from the thousands available in the Outdoor Advertising collections, including the archives of the Outdoor Advertising Association of America. Professor Weinberger has been working at the Hartman Center for the entire spring semester and has a wide range of material to discuss and share. The program will feature a slide show of billboard images and refreshments will be served. The event is open to everyone.
