The Monastery: Mr. Vig and the Nun

You are invited to attend a free screening of The Monastery on Monday, 29 September, at 4pm in room 0016 at the Westbrook Building in the Divinity School. Winner at the 2007 Full Frame Documentary Film Festival of both the Full Frame Grand Jury Award and the Charles E. Guggenheim Emerging Artist Award, The Monastery tells the story of an 86-year-old bachelor and the Russian nun who becomes part of his life as he pursues his quest to turn his castle into a Russian Orthodox monastery.  Following the screening there will be a discussion with Amy Laura Hall, Associate Professor of Theological Ethics; Jason Byassee, Director of the Center for Theology, Writing and Media; and Tom Rankin, Associate Professor of the Practice and Director of the Center for Documentary Studies.  The program is co-sponsored by the Divinity School Library and the Rare Book, Manuscript, and Special Collections Library.
