1 April 2009, 2-3:30pm at Perkins Library in the Gothic Reading Room
Welcome to the yearly Edible Book Festival sponsored by the Duke University Libraries Preservation Department in conjunction with the annual International Edible Book Festival. Since 1999 the International Edible Book Festival has given bookbinders and bibliophiles a reason to create books made of edible materials.
The only rule? Make edible art that has something to do with books. Use your culinary skills to represent a book title or the book as an object. Information and inspiration can be found on the International Festival's homepage. You can also see a selection of entires from Duke's 2008, 2007, and 2006 festivals.
The Duke Libraries' festivities will include both edible books and refreshments you will actually want to edible objects.
Participation in the event--either as a "baker" or a buyer or both--is open to everyone. Entries must be delivered to the Gothic Reading Room no later than 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 1 April.
Bon Appetit and Happy Binding!
