Selling Beauty

The John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History invites you to a Staff & Scholar's Tea at 3pm on Tuesday, 19 May, at Perkins Library in the Biddle Rare Book Room.

The Hartman Center's visiting scholar, Christina Burr, will give a talk titled Lovely Lux Screen Stars and Dove's 'Real' Women: Global Consumer Culture, Gendered Modernity and Unilever's Personal Care Products, 1920s to the Present

Christina Burr is associate professor of history at the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada.  Her academic research and teaching have focused on working - class history, gender history, and cultural and social history of Canada.  Her present topic is a timely look at the presentation of beauty within the global consumer culture.
