In 2007 Duke undergraduate Eric Mansfield (E'09) toured Germany photographing sites associated with the Holocaust. He studied not only the design of the memorials at these sites but the reactions of the visitors. In his three-part photo essay. "Holocaust Remembrance," on view in the Old Perk Gallery on the second floor of Perkins, he examines official concentration camp memorials, memorials in everyday life, and proposed memorials. Mansfield's work was supported by a generous grant from the Berlin Project, a research initiative for undergraduates.
