Celebrating the Music of Frank Foster

Duke Jazz Ensemble Performs Music of Jazz Legend
When: Friday, October 1, 8 p.m.
Where: Baldwin Auditorium, East Campus

Join the Duke Jazz Ensemble for a concert celebrating a living legend in jazz, Frank Foster. Foster, a Grammy Award-winning composer and saxophonist, was a member of the Count Basie Orchestra, leading the group from 1986-1995. In 2002, he was presented with a Jazz Master Award from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Foster's papers are a part of the Jazz Archive at Duke University Libraries, and this concert will include new arrangements of compositions by North Carolina musicians. The Duke Jazz Ensemble, directed by John Brown, will be joined by distinguished alumni of the Duke Jazz Program as well as past guest artists. The compositions will be recorded the following weekend.

Tickets are $10 for the general public, $5 for students and senior citizens. For ticket information, visit www.tickets.duke.edu.
